Dutch health insurance is compulsory for residents in the Netherland. Since it can be quite expensive, the government offers a compensation for the costs of the basic healthcare insurance.
To qualify for the healthcare allowance, you have to meet these requirements:
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You have a BSN number.
- You have a Dutch health insurance.
- You have an EU nationality or residence permit.
- Your earnings are below the threshold.
The Dutch tax authorities distinguish between being single and having a fiscal partner (toeslagpartner). The income requirements are the following:
- Single: gross income < EUR 27,857 per year, savings < EUR 107,752.
- With a fiscal partner: collective income < EUR 35,116 per year, collective savings < EUR 132,752.
